Young People honoured at Children’s University

Twelve young people were awarded during a special graduation ceremony to mark their outstanding achievement in the Children’s University.

Over three years, the youngsters aged between 12 and 18, took part in various workshops and training provided by the Youth Forum in an effort to build their business skills for the future. The sessions also included training, arranging meetings and consultations, discussion and presentation skills and much more.

The Caerphilly County Borough Council's Youth Forum, provides an opportunity for young people to have their say on issues that directly affect them and to become actively involved in local decision making. All of the sessions run by the service are outside of school hours and are undertaken voluntarily by the members.

Michael Prew, Youth Champion and Plaid Cymru councillor for Morgan Jones ward in Caerphilly, said, “The group of young people taking part in this National Scheme through the Youth Forum have been a joy to work with. They truly deserve this great accolade for all of their hard work and dedication. It is a great achievement for all involved including the Youth Forum staff who work tirelessly to create a fun learning environment outside of the syllabus.”

Young people between 11 and 25 who live in Caerphilly County Borough can find out more information about how to get involved with the forum at or by calling the Forum team on 01443 863292
