Leanne Wood supports Caerphilly Plaid council candidates

Plaid Cymru leader Leanne Wood was in Caerphilly county borough today supporting the party's candidates in next month's council elections which are on Thursday, May 4.

Leanne, who was accompanied by Councillor Colin Mann, Plaid Cymru group leader on Caerphilly council, chatted to local people at the Coffee Vault in Newbridge before moving onto Blackwood and Caerphilly.

Leanne also spoke to candidates and Gwern-y-Domen campaigners fighting the threat of new homes on precious green fields at Plasnewydd Farm, Caerphilly.

Speaking afterwards, Colin Mann,Plaid Cymru group leader on Caerphilly County Borough Council, said the visit was a great boost to the local election campaign.

“I would like to thank Leanne for coming to Caerphilly county borough for the afternoon to help the campaign,” said Mr Mann.  “We visited some of the key targets for us in the local elections.

“People in these places, like many people across all wards in the county borough, understand the need to replace the stale Labour leadership of the local authority with something new and vibrant.

“Only Plaid Cymru can topple Labour in the Caerphilly county borough elections.  The message that Leanne came to deliver was a simple one which is ‘if you want change you must vote for it on May 4th.

“I hope people will remember this when they cast their vote on who will be delivering local services in the next administration.”
