Colin Mann stays on as Caerphilly group leader after council elections

Plaid Cymru councillors have re-elected Councillor Colin Mann as leader of the group on Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Aber Valley councillor Lyndon Binding takes over from Councillor James Fussell as deputy leader. He did not seek re-election.

Councillor Mann, who represents Llanbradach, said: "I’m pleased to continue to have the backing and confidence of the Plaid Cymru group.

“In opposition, we will continue to hold the ruling Labour administration to account and highlight our concerns when we believe they are taking a wrong decision or going in the wrong direction to the detriment of people in the county borough.

“I’d like to thank James for his work as deputy leader and look forward to working with Lyndon, who is an experienced councillor, in his new role.”

Councillor Binding was first elected to the county borough council in 2008.

He will also chair the council’s health social care and wellbeing scrutiny committee while fellow Plaid councillor Margaret Sargent will chair the authority’s audit committee.
